This tool converts PNG, JPG, and WEBP images into standard Windows ICO icon files. The generated ICO file can include multiple sizes to ensure crisp display across resolutions and contexts.

Supported sizes

You can include any of the following sizes in the generated ICO file:

• 16x16: browser tabs, small taskbar icons
• 32x32: desktop shortcuts, file lists
• 48x48: large icons in Windows Explorer
• 64x64: high-DPI displays
• 128x128: Windows Store or large showcases
• 256x256: large icons on Vista and later

Privacy

All conversion happens locally in your browser — your images are never uploaded to a server.

What is an ICO file?

ICO is the Windows icon file format. A single ICO file can contain multiple sizes of an icon. It's commonly used for website favicons, desktop application icons, and shortcut icons.

What's the difference between ICO and Favicon?

Favicon is the general term for a website icon and can use ICO, PNG and other formats. ICO's advantage is packing multiple sizes in one file, and Windows has the best support for it.

Which sizes should I include?

We recommend at least 16x16 (browser tab), 32x32 (standard icon), and 48x48 (large icon). For high-DPI support you can also add 64x64 and 256x256.

Is image quality degraded after conversion?

The conversion does not reduce image quality — the ICO file contains scaled copies of the original image at full quality. For best results, upload a source image at least 256x256 in resolution.

Is this tool free?

Completely free, no sign-up required. All conversion happens locally in your browser and images are never uploaded to a server.
